Glossary of terms
Short definitions of the vocabulary used throughout these docs. Follow the links for full explanations.
| Term | Meaning |

| Analysis | A request for one or more time series of scores. See Analyses. |
| Query | One series within an analysis (e.g. a chart line). |
| Series | A single line of results — one entity, one metric, over the period. |
| Ranking | A league table of brands ordered by score. See Rankings. |
| Entity | What a query measures: a brand, sector, custom sector or industry. See Regions, sectors & brands. |
| Region | A market, identified by a country code (e.g. us). |
| Sector | A category within a region, identified by sector_id. |
| Brand | An individual brand within a sector, identified by brand_id. |
| Custom sector | A user-defined grouping of brands (custom_sector_uuid). |
| Industry | A grouping spanning multiple sectors (industry_uuid). |
| Metric | A dimension of brand perception (e.g. buzz). See Metrics. |
| Score type | Which responses count toward a score (numerator). |
| Scoring population | Who is included in the base (denominator). |
| Period | The date window a query covers. See Periods & dates. |
| Moving average | A rolling mean, in days, applied to smooth a series. |
| Resample | Grouping results into larger time buckets (weekly, monthly…). |
| Perspective | One of the seven values returned per datapoint (volume, score, positives, negatives, neutrals, positives_neutrals, negatives_neutrals). |
| Filter | A restriction on the respondents in a query. See Filters. |
| Significance test | A check of whether a difference between two datapoints is statistically meaningful. |
